FSBO Greater Portland Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This FAQ is devoted to seller issues. If you have any seller related questions not addressed here, please let us know.
Q. What is FSBOGreaterPortland.com?
A. FSBOGreaterPortland.com is a marketing service that brings buyers and sellers of real estate together. This service allows people to sell and buy their homes and real property without paying real estate commissions. We are a marketing service only and DO NOT represent the seller or the buyer.
Q. What do I get when I subscribe to your service?
A. For a flat fee of $249, you will receive a professional online listing and web presence for your home for up to 6 months. You will have unlimited text description to describe your property, access to change your listing 24/7 and the ability to upload as many as 6 photos of your property. You will be provided with a professional yard sign, along with two directional signs and one open house sign to attract buyers to your property. The signs will be delivered within 5 days of listing. Q. How long will my listing remain active on FSBOGreaterPortland.com?
A. Your listing will remain active for six months, until your property is sold, listed with a realtor, or taken off the market, whichever comes first.
Q. Are the signs mine to keep?
A. The yard sign is property of FBSO Greater Portland. By reusing the signs more than once, we are able to keep our listing fee as low as possible. If the sign is damaged or stolen, $100 payment must be paid to FSBO Greater Portland to replace the sign. The directional and open house signs are yours to keep.
Q. Can I get additional signs?
A. An additional yard sign is available to rent for $50.00. Additional directional or open house signs are available to purchase for $10 each.
Q. Do I install the signs myself?
A. We install the Yard-Sign along with your customized phone number rider. Directional and open house signs are easily placed by the customer.
Q. How long does it take to get my home listed?
A. Once the payment is processed, you are in complete control of listing your own home immediately on FSBOGreaterPortland.com.
Q. Can I make changes to my property listing once it is posted on the site?
A. Certainly! You can make changes at any time by logging in to your account. You can change the description of the property, or the photos. You can also advertise upcoming open houses. You are in control of your listing and all changes happen in real time and will appear immediately.
Q. Who writes the property descriptions?
A. Since you know the most about the property, you are the most qualified to write the property description.
Q. Do you provide Maine Real Estate forms?
A. Yes. All the basic forms you need to sell your property are included in our website. Forms can be found on our Maine Real Estate forms page.
Q. My house has sold, how do I remove it from the site?
A. Simply login and change your property status to “sold”. Also, you can email info@fsbogreaterportland.com and we will remove the listing for you and pick up your yard sign. Please make sure that the sign is available in your yard for pick up.
Q. Can I simultaneously list my property with a realtor?
A. No, if you decide to list with a realtor, please notify us immediately. Send an email to info@fsbogreaterportland.com and we will come pick up your yard sign. You may advertise in any other medium you wish while your property is listed with us.
Q. Why don't you offer the MLS?
A. We are not real estate agents. The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is owned and operated by the real estate profession and you must be a realtor to list a property on it. FSBOGreaterPortland.com is interested in bringing buyers and sellers of real property together while avoiding high real estate agent commissions.
Q. If I decide not to sell my property, will my listing fee be refunded?
A. Since the majority of our costs are incurred within the first few days, no refund of any kind is allowed after your home has been posted on our site.
Q. How do I print information sheets for my home?
A. Simply view your listing and select “printer friendly” option to get a high quality information sheet highlighting your homes features.
Q. How do I list my Open Houses?
A. Use the “Seller’s Login” link, and then select the “Open Houses” option. From here you can pick the dates and times for your open houses. Once this is done, buyers can search “Open Houses” to find your property. You may also want to consider advertising your open house in the Portland Press Herald’s real estate circular.
Q. How do I get my photos to you?
A. You can upload your pictures directly to your listing by using the “pictures” link while logged into your listing page. Photos must be in JPEG or GIF format, please keep digital photos under 2MB in size. Photos can also be sent via email to info@fsbogreaterportland.com. (You may also mail actual photos to us which we will scan and upload to FSBOGreaterPortland.com)
